  1. What really grabbed me was The Raffenberg family, by Wilhelm Bendz, 1830.
    Loved the economical depiction (in terms of ' lean' application of paint) of faces, fabrics, furnishings. I'm beginning to think that 1820-1840 is my period, in so many ways!
